Witches Versus the US Marines

Witches arrived on the door to the Marine Corps Recruiting Center in Berkley California. Some pagan ritual? Early for Halloween? A J.K. Rowling’s sighting? No, they were invited there by the whackado anti-war group Code Pink. According to Fox News, Code Pink asked supporters “to come equipped with spells and pointy hats…” Apparently, Code Pink believes spells cannot be effective if you are not wearing a pointy hat.

Friday was “Witches, Crones and Sirens” day in Code Pink’s on-going effort to harass both the Marines and their potential recruits. Rather than supporting the men and women who make it possible for Code Pink to spew their incoherent diatribes, the shrewish group uses their First Amendment rights attempting to deny the Marines the right to use theirs. In general though their efforts are more akin to the Littlest Vampire than the Wicked Witch—all suck and no bite. From the Fox News report: “Capt. John Paul Wheatcroft said he’s unfazed by Code Pink’s antics. ‘They’re always in pink and wear funny things, half-shaved heads, one side with hair and the other one bald, yeah, I’m pretty much used to anything.’”

When asked what he thought about the witchcraft theme, Wheatcroft responded: “”Do you think they’ll bring their cauldron?”
